How to Connect to Your Rust Server

Once your Rust server is online, you can connect using several methods. This guide covers all connection options.

Method 1: Direct Connect via Console (Recommended)

  1. Launch Rust and wait until you're in the main menu
  2. Press F1 to open the console
  3. Type the following command and press Enter:
client.connect YOUR_SERVER_IP:PORT

Example:

client.connect 123.45.67.89:28015

Note: Replace the IP and port with your actual server details delivered via email.

Method 2: Connect via Server Browser

  1. Open Rust and click "Play Game"
  2. Click on the "Modded" or "Community" tab (depending on your server type)
  3. In the search box, type your server name
  4. Click on your server and press "Connect"

Tip: It may take 5-10 minutes for your server to appear in the browser after first starting it.

Method 3: Add to Favorites

  1. Press F1 in the Rust main menu
  2. Type:
client.connect YOUR_SERVER_IP:PORT
  1. Once connected, press ESC and disconnect
  2. Go to "Play Game""Favorites" tab
  3. Your server will now be saved in favorites for quick access

Finding Your Server IP and Port

Method 1: Check Your Email

Your server IP and port were sent to you in the order confirmation email when your server was activated.

Method 2: TuneInGaming Dashboard

  1. Log in to your TuneInGaming Dashboard
  2. Navigate to "My Services"
  3. Click on your Rust server
  4. Your connection details are displayed on the service page

The format is: IP:PORT (e.g., 123.45.67.89:28015)

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Server not appearing in browser?

  • Wait 5-10 minutes after starting the server
  • Make sure your server is online in servers status
  • Try direct connect via console instead

"Connection Failed" or "Server Not Responding"?

  • Verify the IP and port are correct
  • Check if your server is running in servers status
  • Restart your internet and try again
  • Make sure you're not using a VPN that blocks game connections

Getting kicked immediately after connecting?

  • Check if there's a whitelist enabled
  • Verify your server has available player slots
  • Look for ban lists or anti-cheat plugins that might be blocking you
